Angelo Boffa was born in Battipaglia, Italy on February 15, 1991. He is a medical doctor and orthopaedic surgeon (Graduation with grade 110/110 cum laude at the University of Salerno, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in October 2015, and Degree of specialist with grade 70/70 cum laude at University of Bologna). He started practicing as resident doctor in clinical and surgical activities in the II Orthopaedic and Traumatology Clinic of Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute (Bologna, Italy) directed by Prof. Stefano Zaffagnini from 2017. He deals in particular with knee pathologies, ranging from sports trauma to degenerative diseases. He is an ongoing PhD student in Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences at University of Bologna. He works as researcher in the Applied and Translational Research centre of Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute directed by Prof. Giuseppe Filardo from 2018.
He is involved in several clinical trials regarding biotechnology applications in orthopaedics. He published over 20 articles on international journals (with impact factor) and 5 book chapters on the application of orthobiologics for the treatment of osteoarthritis and cartilage surgery of the knee. He has participated in over 30 national and international orthopaedic conferences. He has been a speaker at 7 national and international conferences and has won the award for the best presentation in “Biotechnology and Regenerative Medicine” at SIOT 2021 congress. He is member of some orthopaedic societies, both national and international. He is member of the Cartilage and Regenerative Medicine Committee of the SIAGASCOT society, and he is member of the ICRS and ESSKA societies.
