Stefan Marlovits is Professor of Traumatology and Sports Orthopaedics at the Medical University of Vienna.
During his career he has been involved in most major activities of traumasurgery and orthopaedics. He is experienced in the treatment of multiple injured patients and major orthopaedic trauma. Furthermore he has great experience in arthroscopic procedures especially in the knee.
The main focuses in the operative sports orthopaedic procedures are mini-invasive techniques especially for the treatment of joints disorders. Special interest of his clinical work is the knee joint, with injuries to the meniscus, ligaments and cartilage.
He was the Head of Research at the Department of Traumatology at the Medical University of Vienna. He has worked extensively in the area of biological cartilage repair procedures and has published extensively in this field.
His main clinical and research interests are joint and tissue regeneration with the use of modern techniques like chondrocyte transplantation and stem cell therapies.
He is member of different national and international scientific societies.
