Prof. Dr. Kreuz is an orthopaedic surgeon, specialized in joint regeneration, cartilage repair and sports medicine. After his medical education in Munich (Germany), St Gallen (Switzerland) and Washington (USA), he received his MD at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in 2001 with the title: Biomechanical investigation of different intramedullary nails (PFN) in unstable pertrochanteric fractures. During his residency at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany (1999-2001), at the university medical center Freiburg, Germany (2001-2008) and at the Technical university of Munich, Germany (2009-2010), he completed additional specializations in orthopedic surgery, Tissue engineering, sports medicine, advanced trauma life support, chiropractic and medical radiation protection. He is member of different societies (DGOU, AGA, ICRS), held many national and international presentations and is well published with numerous journal and book articles with cartilage topic. He received numerous prizes for his posters (ICRS 2004, GOTS 2005, and GOTS 2006) and medical lectures (Freiburg 2005, 2006, 2007; Stolberg 2007; Science in Rostock 2011) in the field of cartilage repair. He developed a new score for tissue hypertrophy and was involved in the development of a new approach to posterior osteochondral lesions of the talus. Since 2002 he is member of the ICRS and since 2011 he is member of the cartilage-meniscus-committee of the AGA, which he chairs since 2019. In January 2009 he earned a PhD in the field of cartilage regeneration. From 2010 to 2015 he worked in the department of orthopaedic surgery in the university medical center Rostock. 2011 he was director of the first German ICRS surgical skills course in Rostock. In 2012 he performed an ICRS fellowship in Boston and LA and in 2014 he performed a hip arthroscopy fellowship in Europe. Since 2014 he is professor for tissue regeneration in the musculoskeletal system of the university of Rostock. Since 2017 he is chief physician at the Asklepios Clinic Bad Tölz, a teaching Hospital of the University of Munich. He has research collaborations with different centers in Europe and America.
