Prof. Dr. med. habil. Philip Catalá-Lehnen has been Medical Director and owner of LANS Medicum Hamburg since 2014.
He trained as a specialist in orthopaedics and trauma surgery at the Universitätsklinikum Eppendorf (UKE) and acquired additional qualifications in special trauma surgery and sports medicine. As founder and medical director of the UKE Athleticum, he successfully established a competence center for sports and exercise medicine from 2012-2014.
From 2011-2014, he was team doctor for HSV (1st German Football League). This was followed by the care of other teams such as HSV Handball, FC Eintracht Norderstedt and the Hamburg Towers (basketball). Today, Prof. Catalá-Lehnen coaches many individual athletes, the teams of the regional soccer league FC Eintracht Norderstedt and FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen as well as John Neumeier’s Hamburg Ballet.
Since 2018, he has also been involved in teaching orthopaedics, sports medicine and bone pathology at the UKE and trains medical students of UKE in conservative sports orthopaedics at the LANS Medicum Hamburg. He has also been teaching physiotherapy at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences since 2018. Since the winter semester of 2023, he has also been a professor of clinical medicine with a focus on orthopaedics at the Medical School Hamburg.
