Scott P. Bruder, MD, PhD, is the Founder and CEO of the Bruder Consulting & Venture Group, providing product development, regulatory, compliance and commercialization support for companies and HCPs engaged in tissue repair and regeneration. He is the former Chief Medical and Scientific Officer of Stryker Corporation, and Member of FDA’s Advisory Panel on Human Cell, Tissue and Gene Therapy. Over the last 25 years he has launched numerous orthobiologic products, published over 125 papers, abstracts and chapters, and received the highest scientific awards from the AAOS, ORS, ABJS and AIMBE. His landmark patents on the use of MSCs for treating orthopaedic conditions moved the entire platform from autologous to allogeneic cell therapy in a variety of companies around the world. Dr. Bruder maintains his academic ties as an Adjunct Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University, where he trained and has actively collaborated with Prof. Arnold Caplan since 1985.Dr. Bruder’s inventions, technologies and teams have launched dozens of products, earning billions of dollars for his employers and patent licensors. He has published more than 125 original articles, book chapters and abstracts, been awarded over 20 patents, and lectures extensively around the world. He is the recipient of numerous honors, and is both the youngest and only industry scientist to receive the Kappa Delta Award from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Marshall R. Urist Award for Excellence in Tissue Regeneration Research from the Orthopaedic Research Society, the Marshall R. Urist Award from the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons, and the Pierre Galletti Award from the American Institute for Medical and Biologic Engineering.
