Patrik Önnerfjord, PhD, Associate Professor, Faculty of Medicine at Lund University. Patrik is an internationally renowned analytical chemist who specializes in cartilage biology. His research focuses on the use of biological mass spectrometry (MS) within extracellular matrix research and
osteoarthritis. He served as a board member in the Swedish Society for Mass Spectrometry for many years and recently he was part of the HUPO
initiative on rheumatic diseases.
Patrik’s international collaborative network includes research groups in extracellular matrix biology and biomechanically driven disease models, e.g. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Duke University. His collaborative partnerships span the fields of tissue
explant studies, discovery and targeted proteomics of joint tissues, characterization of disease-related post-translational modifications, and biomarker discovery.
