I am Dr. Samundeeswari. S., a dedicated orthopaedic surgeon, academician, and healthcare entrepreneur from Puducherry, India. With a strong passion for excellence, I am the only female orthopaedic surgeon in my hometown, setting a trailblazing example in the field.
My journey began with MBBS and MS Ortho degrees, followed by an MBA in Hospital and Health Systems Administration from BITS Pilani, Rajasthan, which broadened my perspective on healthcare and business.
Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences, I am committed to shaping the next generation of orthopaedic professionals. My dedication has earned me memberships in prominent international and national orthopaedic societies, including SICOT, WAVES APOA, ISAKOS, and ICRS.
Gender representation in orthopaedics is a cause close to my heart, evident in my roles as Executive Member of the Women’s Wing of the Indian Orthopaedic Association and Founding Member of the Women’s Wing of the Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association.
Beyond academics, I co-founded CARE Sports Injury, a pioneering sports injury clinic in South India, focusing on comprehensive athlete care.
My contributions extend to peer-reviewed publications, indexed journals, and chapters in esteemed Springer publications. Notably, I received the Marcela Uribe Zamudio Award at the 40th SICOT Orthopaedic World Congress in 2019 for academic and entrepreneurial achievements.
An active ICRS member, I strive to advance orthopaedics through collaborations and research. My leadership roles in international orthopaedic committees, including SICOT and IODA, reflect my commitment to shaping the future of orthopaedic education.
