To develop and organize the scientific programme for the ICRS World Congress.
The committee will consist of two Co-Chairs and 6 other members. The two Co-Chairs shall be elected by the ICRS general board. The Co-Chairs will become members of the general board. One Chair shall represent the basic sciences and the other shall represent clinical practice. Both Chairs will be renowned experts in a specific field of cartilage repair and they will represent different regions of the world. It is important that they are active members of the ICRS and will have been to several previous ICRS World Congresses so that they have an understanding of the way the congresses run. The persons must be willing to commit the time necessary to complete the work of the Program Committee.
The Co-Chairs will develop the scientific programme, oversee the broad content of the congress, validated it for scientific integrity, and reviewed it to ensure lack of personal or commercial bias. After this process, the speakers are then selected. The Co-Chairs will also provide final review and editing of the abstract book prior to publication.
Nominations for Co-Chairs will be provided by members of the general board. Nominations will be put forth with an accompanying brief (1-2 paragraphs) of how the candidate meets the qualifications outlined above under “Members”. Nominations will be solicited by the Executive Secretary or President following a Congress. From the list of nominations, the Executive Board will select not more than three candidates for each Co-Chair position, and the general board will vote on these candidates. Co-Chairs will be elected and announced within 4 months of a World Congress. Co-Chairs will serve for the duration of one congress and they will be members of the general board for the same duration. Four members (two basic science and two clinical) will be selected by the newly elected Co-Chairs. The final 2 members will be the previous Co-chairs.
