Consultant in Joint & Tumor Reconstructive Orthopedics Surgery based in Gleneagles Hospital and Subang Jaya Medical Centre with more than 30 years of experience. He is currently the Managing Director and Founder of WQ Park Health & Rehabilitation Centre, since 2010. He holds a Masters of Orthopedics Surgery from University of Malaya, Malaysia, and numerous Fellowships namely, Fellowship in Orthopedics Traumatology, Germany, Fellowship in Hip replacement, Australia, Fellowship in Joint Replacement, Australia, Fellowship in Bone Tumour and Joint Reconstruction and Fellowship of Academy of Medicine of Malaysia.
On top of this, he has also received trainings in his area of expertise from abroad in Illizarov Technique from Italy, Hip Surgery from England, Hip Replacement from Australia, Joint Replacement from Phillipines and Australia. He has also published numerous papers and done abundant research throughout his career in Orthopedic Surgery, especially in the specialized field of Joint and Tumor Reconstructive Surgery.
Following the medical innovation, Dato’ Sri Dr Zulkharnain is up to date with current procedures and techniques of surgery in his field of expertise. He has done many advanced, complicated, and innovative surgeries to date.
He has chaired multiple medical professional councils and national-level technical committees namely, Malaysia’s Orthopedics Association, ASEAN Orthpedics Association, National Specialist Registry for Orthopaedic Surgery and many more. He is currently holding the Chairman position in a few social organizations such as Yayasan Persatuan Alumni Universiti Malaya and Koperasi Asasi Berhad (KAB) of Univeristy Malaya. Previously, he has also chaired the Medical Dentistry Advisory Council of Gleneagles Hospital, Kuala Lumpur and was also appointed as the Medical Director of Gleneagles Hospital, Kuala Lumpur. For his exemplary leadership and achievements, he has also been awarded with “Perkhidmatan Cemerlang” from Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
He has also been appointed to be one of the examiners and Advisory Board Member of Malaysia’s College of Orthopaedic and Surgery. Moreover, he has been conferred as an Honorary Lecturer in Univeristi Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)’s Masters Programme, Univerisiti Putra Malaysia and International Medical Univeristy, Malaysia. Dato’ Sri Dr Zulkharnain is also the Consultant and Private Doctor to His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XVI Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri-ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Her Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda The Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah from year 2019 in addition to his role as Sultan Abdullah and The Pahang Royal Family’s Consultant and Private Doctor since 2003.
