Please provide a general description of your program:

Program in reconstructive knee surgery with a focus on young arthritics. Based on the patients demands and injury pattern, each individual is evaluated for background factors; alignment of the TF and PF joint, ligament and meniscal deficiency and articular damage. An individualized treatment plan is developed and performed. Treatments include athroscopic debridement, OATS, meniscal repairs and combined reconstructive biologic repairs including ostetotomies, ligament reconstructions, meniscal transplants, osteochondral transplants and MACI when indicated. Customized arthroplasties for uni, bicompartmental and total knee arthroplasty are performed regularly and revision total knee arthroplasty as well. All outcomes are collected prospectively for clinical research purposes.

Scientific Research Opportunities Available:

Clinical outcomes research for joint preservation and replacement of the knee. Basic science research not available.

Prior chairman of the Education Committee of the ICRS and have organized several ICRS surgical skills courses and participated in others as a lecturer and demonstrator.

Orthopedic Surgeons who wish to Observe surgeries may obtain a “Surgical Observer” status at our institution and be ‘Scrubbed Observers’ if they wish . Clinical Research Fellowships are available but are self funded only by the fellow / their sponsoring institution at this time. Funded fellowships at the Paley institute are only available to USA Fellows that obtain a license in Florida .
