Scholarship – ICRS Skills Course focused on Knee Osteotomies 2024

This scholarship aims to provide an opportunity for young orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, or scientists interested in cartilage regeneration and joint preservation. This will be accomplished by ICRS waiving the participation fee for the upcoming ICRS Skills Course focused on Knee Osteotomies. The Skills Course will take place in Manchester, United Kingdom, from March 7 to 9, 2024.

This will be an exciting meeting to join ICRS and the cartilage and joint preservation world! Up to 3 candidates will be selected and awarded with this scholarship, which waives the fee for subscription to the meeting.

Scholarship – ICRS Focus Meeting Imaging & Decision Making 2024

This scholarship aims to provide an opportunity for young orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, or scientists interested in cartilage regeneration and joint preservation. The Focus Meeting will take place in Vienna, Austria, from April 21 to 23, 2024.

1st ICRS Regional Fellowship – USA ICRS-JRF/CTS Clinical Travelling Fellowship 2023

The first ICRS Regional Traveling Fellowship is about to begin with the USA chapter!

Objectives:
The program’s objective is to provide an opportunity for young orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, or clinical scientists to gain exposure to the world of articular cartilage injury, repair, and regeneration by meeting key experts in the field. Selected as potential leaders in cartilage regeneration and joint preservation, fellows will travel with the Godfather Dr. William Bugbee from Scripps Clinic Medical Group in La Jolla to visit research facilities, observe surgical procedures, and participate in social events with the hosting cartilage repair community.

Eligibility:

The fellowship will occur from April 15, 2023, to April 22, 2023, covering travelling, hosting, and the main meals. The tentative itinerary includes stops in Dayton/OH (Communal Tissue Bank), Chicago (Rush at Midwest with Brian Cole, Adam Yanke, Jorge Chahla and Susan Chubinskaya) and Rochester (Mayo Clinic with Daniel Saris and Aaron Krych).

Scholarship – ICRS Focus Meeting Allografts & Synthetics 2023

This scholarship aims to provide an opportunity for young orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, or scientists interested in cartilage regeneration and joint preservation. This will be accomplished by ICRS waiving the participation fee for the upcoming ICRS Focus Meeting on Allografts&Synthetics. The Focus Meeting will take place in Nice/France, from April 27 to 29, 2023.

ICRS/Vericel – Lars Peterson Clinical Travelling Fellowship 2023

The programme objectives are to provide an opportunity for young orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, or clinical scientists of international exchange in a stimulating environment and to gain exposure to basic science and clinical applications in studies involving articular cartilage injury, repair, and regeneration. Selected as potential leaders in cartilage regeneration and joint preservation, fellows will participate in scientific symposia with host physicians, view search facilities and surgical procedures and participate in social and cultural events with the hosting cartilage repair community. The Fellowship Programme includes attending the ICRS World Congress.

The networking includes joined workshops and exchanges with the ON/ICRS Translational Orthoregeneration Research Fellowship fellows, who travel on the same schedule but focus on translational science.

The 16 day-tour is led by the distinguished and experienced godfather Mats Brittberg (Kungsbacka Hospital, Göteborg University, Sweden), a mentor throughout the trip.

The Fellowship program ends with attending the ICRS World Congress in Sitges/Barcelona.

The ICRS will cover all costs for transportation, accommodation, and several dinners with the local hosts.

ON/ICRS Translational Orthoregeneration Research Fellowship 2023

The program’s objectives are to provide highly motivated young postdoctoral scientists (clinicians or researchers) and future leaders with an exposure to high-quality translational research in laboratories that are world-famous for their work in orthopaedic tissue regeneration. The fellowship is a great opportunity to build a lasting international network in a stimulating environment. The networking includes joined workshops and exchanges with the fellows of the Lars Peterson Clinical Travelling Fellowship, who travel at the same schedule but focus on clinics.

The 16 day-tour is led by the distinguished and experienced godmother Susan Chubinskaya (Rush University Chicago), who acts as a mentor throughout the trip.

The Fellowship program ends with attending the ICRS World Congress in Sitges/Barcelona.

The ON Foundation will cover all costs for transportation and accommodation as well as the costs for several dinners with the local hosts.

This will be accomplished by ICRS waiving the participation fee for the upcoming 17th World Congress ICRS 2023. The Congress will be held in Sitges/Barcelona, Spain, on the 9-12 of September 2023. The theme of the meeting will be “Time for Action: Advancing the Science and Treatments for Cartilage and Joint Preservation” to focus on the critical need and urgency for progress in our field.

This will promise to be an exciting meeting to join ICRS and the world of cartilage and joint preservation!

ICS-ICRS Fellowship 2023

We are happy to announce that the ICRS will also contribute to the ICS-ICRS Fellowship this year. On the occasion of the upcoming 8th Congress of the Indian Cartilage Society and of the 7th Congress of the Asian Cartilage Society (Jaipur, December 16 & 17, 2022), three Indian citizens will be short-listed for ICRS recommendation. One final candidate will be chosen for a fully paid ICS-ICRS fellowship for attending the ICRS World Congress in Sitges/Barcelona, Spain, in September 2023!

ICRS Summit Miami 2022 Scholarship

The objective of this scholarship is to provide an opportunity for young orthopaedic surgeons, residents, fellows, or scientists interested in cartilage regeneration and joint preservation. This will be accomplished by ICRS waiving the participation fee for the upcoming ICRS Summit: Joint Preservation – Where We Are in 2022. The Summit will be held in Miami, Florida, on the 17-19 of November 2022. The ICRS Summit will emphasize the positive surgical techniques, rehabilitation protocols, and new biological adjuvants such as HA, PRP, BMAC, stem cells, and new industry-sponsored adjuvants that will enhance outcomes in clinical practice.

ICRS Sports Medicine Fellowship 2023

The objective of this fellowship is to provide an opportunity for international exchange for young orthopaedic surgeons, fellows, or clinical scientists interested in cartilage regeneration and joint preservation with a particular focus on sports medicine. This will be accomplished by a stimulating environment with exposure to both science and clinical application of treatments for joint restoration in athletes. Selected fellows will spend one week in the Aspetar Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Hospital, Doha, Qatar. This is an ICRS and ISAKOS training centre, as well as a FIFA-accredited medical centre of excellence, one of the leading institutions worldwide in the spectrum of sports injuries applying a multidisciplinary approach in diagnosis and treatment.

Fellows will visit the state-of-the-art facilities including the sports surgery training centre, the sports medicine movement analysis laboratory, the physiotherapy and rehabilitation area, and be exposed to other intriguing new treatment approaches like climatic chamber and virtual reality. Hosted by the godfather Emmanuel T. Papacostas, the fellows will arrive on the 19th of January 2023. After one week, they will also have the opportunity to conclude their fellowship by joining the 7th ICRS Surgical Skills Course & Wet Lab on January 26-28, 2023, which will bring together international acknowledged experts to highlight the most recent development in surgical techniques with regards to cartilage regeneration and joint preservation. A remarkable academic agenda will include scientific lectures and 4 extensive hands-on workshops on human cadaver specimens, with a full portfolio of cartilage treatment strategies and a special focus on knee and ankle injuries in sports pathology. The selected fellows will have the opportunity to network, exchange ideas in a high-profile hospital and sports facilities environment, view research facilities and surgical procedures and participate in social and cultural events with the hosting cartilage repair community.

Three candidates will be selected and awarded this fellowship covering the basic travel costs, hosting, and Wet Lab participation of this programme.

Following this experience, fellows will be required to provide a written summary of their fellowship experiences to ICRS. A short oral presentation may be required by ICRS to be presented during the next ICRS International Congress.

-Orthopaedic Surgery, Senior- or Chief Residents, Fellows or young clinical Scientists below the age of 40 and with a dedicated interest in Cartilage Regeneration and Joint Preservation
-Candidates must not have been benefited previously from the same programme
-Candidates must speak English fluently (entire programme held in English)

ON-ICRS Basic Scientist Research Fellowship 2022 – Berlin / Germany

The objectives of the program are to provide young postdoctoral scientists with an opportunity for international exchange in a stimulating environment and to gain exposure to high quality basic research in laboratories that are world famous for their work in orthopaedic tissue regeneration. Selected as potential leaders in the field of cartilage regeneration and repair, fellows will be accompanied on a approx. 14 day-tour led by a distinguished and experienced Godfather/Godmother who will act as a mentor throughout the trip. The Fellowship Program ends with attending the ICRS World Congress in Berlin. The Fellows will be selected in open competition by an expert panel established through ON and the ICRS.

Eligibility:

-Candidates must be ICRS Members in good standing
-Scientists with completed PhD or MD, below age of 40 with a dedicated research interest in cartilage repair and regeneration
-Candidates must have a strong publication record in cartilage repair and regeneration
-Candidates must not have benefited previously from any ICRS Fellowship programme or similar ON programmes
-Candidates must be fluent in English (the entire programme will be held in English)

Vacancies: 4 candidates will be selected

Tour Dates: The tour starts beginning April and ends April 15 in Berlin at the ICRS World Congress.

ICRS/ON Basic Science Education Grants 2022

ON and ICRS are joining forces for regeneration once more. Linking and educating passionate young professionals is the key to significantly advancing the field of orthoregeneration. ICRS and ON provide support to cover parts of individual travel expenses up to a maximum of EUR 500 for attending the ICRS Focus Meeting Thessaloniki and the ICRS Summit Miami. ON Education Grants – (10 Vacancies) ICRS World Congress Berlin
Objectives:  ICRS & ON provides support to 10 ICRS members (residents, student fellows and young investigators) towards their individual travel expenses up to a maximum of Euros 500.00 for attending the ICRS World Congress. Young ICRS Members from emerging, developing and newly industrializing countries and interested in all fields of cartilage regeneration and orthoregeneration are encouraged to apply. However, successful candidates will need to register & pay normally for the congress.
