Nicole Gerwin

Nicole Gerwin is Director at Novartis Biomedical Research in the Immunology Disease Area in Basel, Switzerland. She earned her Ph.D. from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany and completed her postdoctoral training at the Center for Blood Research and the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School.
Nicole Gerwin has contributed extensively to drug discovery research and the building of drug candidate portfolios in osteoarthritis and cartilage repair at Novartis Pharma and previously Aventis Pharma and Millennium BioTherapeutics. Her accomplishments include the identification and validation of novel drug candidates, support of clinical development of osteoarthritis drug candidates, the establishment and characterization of animal models of osteoarthritis, the identification of disease biomarkers and the development of sustained-release drug formulations.
Nicole Gerwin has published in Nature Medicine, Osteoarthritis Cartilage, Immunity et al. and a substantial bibliography of reviews, chapters, and editorials.
