Standing Committees

The purpose of a standing committee is to assist in the management of the society carrying out a continued and permanent administrative or scientific function, summarise the results of its activities in an annual report, and present this report, if required, at the next general assembly. Standing committees include, but may not be limited to the following committees: Education & Meetings Committee, Communication Committee, Membership & Bylaws Committee, Scientific Programme Committee, Education & Meeting Committee, Financial Committee and Translational Research Committee.

New standing committees may be initiated by the General Board and must be ratified by the General Assembly. Standing committees may be dissolved by the General Board, and this decision must be ratified by the General Assembly. Standing committees, including its Chairperson, comprise at least 5 members. The total membership number for each committee will be dependent on the working needs of that committee. Members shall be restricted to serving in 1 standing committee at a time. However, members of the Emeritus Committee and the current Scientific Programme Committee past co-chairs may serve in 1 additional committee. Members of the Emeritus Committee cannot be Chair of the additional committee.


Translational Research Committee Committee (TRC)

The aim of this committee is to promote the engagement of basic scientists with governance and with activities of the ICRS. This committee consists of at least 5 members, including the Chairperson. The total membership number is dependent on the working needs of the committee.

Communication & Publication Committee

The aim of this commitee is to provide general oversight of ICRS communications with its members and communication with other societies and to promote discoveries and breakthroughs in cartilage repair science through press releases distributed to members and to a wide range of media sources to spread information about cartilage and our society. This committee consists of at least 5 members, including the Chairperson. The total membership number is dependent on the working needs of the committee.

Education & Meeting Committee Committee

The aim of this commitee is to provide the overall direction, guidance, and coordination for the spectrum of educational activities of the ICRS. This committee consists of at least 5 members, including the Chairperson. The total membership number is dependent on the working needs of the committee.

Emeritus Committee Committee

The aim of this commitee is to advise the President and Executive Committee on matters of Protocol, Politics and Strategic Direction of the organization. This committee is the only committee that is not open for general membership nomination or election. All Past Presidents, excluding the Immediate Past President who serves on the Executive Committee, will be invited to be members on this committee and serve for life.

Fellowship, Scholarship & Research Grant Committee

The aim of this commitee is to develop and maintain fellowships, scholarships and research grants to foster the development of junior ICRS scientists and surgeons. This committee consists of at least 5 members, including the Chairperson. The total membership number is dependent on the working needs of the committee. At least one member will be an Industry representative ad at least one other member should be a Non-physician, Scientist member. One member should be a Next Gen member.

Finance Committee

The aim of this commitee is to oversee the financial activities of the society and to ensure the financial health of the Society. This committee consists of at least 5 members, including the Chairperson. The total membership number is dependent on the working needs of the committee. Finance Committee consists of the President, Past President, Treasurer, and 2 members at-large elected as per bylaws section 6.

ICRS NextGen Committee

The aim of this commitee is to identify and to facilitate the development of next generation cartilage surgeons and scientific leaders. We will achieve this goal by maintaining a scholarly and social collaborative network to link the present generation of thought leaders with the next generation. This committee consists of at least 5 members, including the Chairperson. The total membership number is dependent on the working needs of the committee.

Memberships & Bylaws Committee

The aim of this committee is to assess the membership profile of the ICRS and identify areas for expansion. To review the society by-laws and ensure they are contemporary with society business. This committee consists of at least 5 members, including the Chairperson. The total membership number is dependent on the working needs of the committee.

Regulatory & Industry Liaison Committee

The aim of this commitee is to develop and maintain relationships with industry members and with world regulatory agencies to address issues related to cartilage repair. This committee consists of at least 5 members, including the Chairperson. The total membership number is dependent on the working needs of the committee. At least one member will be an Industry representative ad at least one other member should be a Non-physician, Scientist member.

Registry Steering Committee Committee

The aim of this committee is to run the system together with Amplitude, operational Issues, software adaptations, applications to ethic committees, implementation of new languages/scores, training/education, reporting to doctors, data analysis, annual report, helpdesk. This committee consists of at least 5 members, including the Chairperson. The total membership number is dependent on the working needs of the committee.

Scientific Programme Committee

The aim of this commitee is to develop and organize the scientific programme for the ICRS World Congress. The committee will consist of two Co-Chairs and 6 other members. The two Co-Chairs shall be elected by the ICRS general board. The Co-Chairs will become members of the general board. One Chair shall represent the basic sciences and the other shall represent clinical practice. Both Chairs will be renowned experts in a specific field of cartilage repair and they will represent different regions of the world. It is important that they are active members of the ICRS and will have been to several previous ICRS World Congresses so that they have an understanding of the way the congresses run. The persons must be willing to commit the time necessary to complete the work of the Program Committee.
