Anneke Hibbel

Dr. Anneke Hibbel grew up in the Netherlands, where she studied neuropsychology and cell biology. She obtained a PhD in cell biology from the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics / Technical University Dresden (2015, Germany). After a postdoc at ETH Zurich (Switzerland), Anneke moved into scientific management in 2017 to pursue her passion for collaborating with young and experienced scientists, clinicians and leaders to promote excellence in research and teaching. In her previous role as managing director of the Department of Quantitative Biomedicine at University of Zurich, she served basic and translational scientists as well as clinicians, fostering research and education at the interface of biotechnology and (computational) biomedicine to develop the foundations of next-generation precision medicine. In January 2024, Anneke joined the ICRS – International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society as Executive Director to lead the Society’s operational management and support its strategic development, with the aim of promoting the ICRS’ continued success – for the benefit of patients.
