Corey Neu

University of Colorado Boulder Boulder, United States of America

Corey Neu, PhD, is a biomedical engineer and Professor at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he directs the Soft Tissue Bioengineering Laboratory and serves as Director of the Biomedical Engineering Program. His research focuses on multiscale mechanobiology and biofabrication of soft tissues, with an emphasis on understanding how mechanical forces regulate tissue structure, function, aging, disease, and regeneration.

The research of Dr. Neu combines advanced magnetic resonance imaging, optical microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and biofabrication to develop new approaches for measuring mechanical behavior in tissues and cells. His group pioneered noninvasive MRI-based techniques for mapping tissue deformation and mechanical properties in vivo, including studies of articular cartilage and intervertebral discs in human subjects. More recently, his laboratory has focused on extracellular matrix-based biomaterials and granular tissue-derived hydrogels for cartilage repair, wound healing, and tissue engineering.

Dr. Neu is also a co-founder and CEO of TissueForm, a University of Colorado spinout developing next-generation human tissue-derived biomaterials for cartilage repair. His research and translational efforts have been supported by the NIH, NSF, DoD, Keck Foundation, and industry partners. He is committed to translating fundamental discoveries in mechanobiology and biomaterials into technologies that address unmet clinical needs.
