Markus Schreiner

Markus Schreiner is an orthopaedic surgeon at the Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna (Prof. Reinhard Windhager) and a member of the MSK research group of the High field MR Center (Prof. Siegfried Trattnig). After a research traineeship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota he completed his residency at the Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna. Since 2022 he works as a consultant at the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma surgery at the University hospital Vienna with a primary focus on joint preservation (cartilage repair, osteotomy, soft tissue knee) as well as UKA and TKA. Between August 2023 and February 2024 he completed a clinical knee fellowship under supervision of Mr. James Robinson, Mr. James Murray and Mr. Nicholas Howells at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, UK. Recently he became the lead of the joint outpatient clinic for cartilage damage at the Department for Orthopaedics at the University Hospital Vienna. Within the biomedical MR-imaging cluster, his research focuses on the development and implementation of MR imaging techniques and scoring systems for qualitative and quantitative assessment of cartilage lesions and cartilage repair.
