Ross Uhrich
Dr. Ross Uhrich is a Board-Certified surgeon, investor, and Program Manager (General Partner) at ARPA-H — a U.S. Government agency created to catalyze transformative breakthroughs in health — where he manages a ~$400M biotechnology portfolio of 30+ unique assets across regenerative medicine, synthetic biology, cancer screening, and cell & gene therapy.
Dr. Uhrich built, launched, and manages NITRO — ARPA-H’s nine figure tissue regeneration initiative eradicating osteoarthritis — and POSEIDON — ARPA-H’s synthetic biology multi-cancer early detection program. Both programs are now in execution with funded performer teams (https://arpa-h.gov/explore-funding/programs/nitro & https://arpa-h.gov/explore-funding/programs/poseidon). Taking these programs from concept towards the clinic has resulted in 20+ FDA engagements and has involved close collaboration with NCI, VA, FDA, DoD, HHS, Congress, The White House, and private industry.
Before ARPA-H, Dr. Uhrich invested in early-stage biotech and advised medical device startups on clinical and commercial strategy. His clinical background is as a Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. He trained at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), served aboard the USS Gerald Ford, led surgical departments across the National Capital Region, was a Surgical Consultant to Congress through the Office of the Attending Physician, and continues to teach as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He spent 12 years with the U.S. Navy, finishing as a Lieutenant Commander.
