John A. Grant

John Grant is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Michigan. He completed his PhD in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary Sport Medicine Centre. This was followed by medical school and orthopaedic residency at the University of Calgary. Following residency, he did his clinical fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the University of Michigan. Dr. Grant specializes in all disorders of the shoulder and knee. His clinical focus involves complex knee ligament injuries and cartilage/joint preservation surgery. He is the Head Team Orthopaedic Surgeon for Eastern Michigan University Athletics and a Team Physician for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. He is the Program Director for the University of Michigan Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship. His research interests focus on the management and outcomes associated with both cartilage and multi-ligamentous injury of the knee as well as the optimization of rehabilitation following orthopaedic sports medicine procedures. He has been the Site PI for numerous multi-center industry and federally-funded randomzied clinical trials in cartilage/joint restoration and ligament reconstruction surgery.
