Wei Seong Toh

Wei Seong Toh, PhD, is an Associate Professor with tenure and Research Director at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). He is also a Principal Investigator at the NUS Tissue Engineering Program. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms for degeneration and developing strategies for regeneration of tissues of the musculoskeletal system. His team first reported that small extracellular vesicles/exosomes underpin the therapeutic efficacy of mesenchymal stem cells in joint repair. He is currently the Secretary of SOCRATES, Society for Clinical Research and Translation of Extracellular Vesicles Singapore. He is also an executive committee member of APSEV, Asia-Pacific Societies for Extracellular Vesicles, and a member of ISEV, International Society for Extracellular Vesicles Task Force on Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Use of EV-based Therapeutics. He is an active member of several meetings and workshops on mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles.
